PHOTOSHOOT 5 (RURAL LANDSCAPES)

CONTACT SHEET

ANALYSIS

This photo shoot is very different in comparison to my previous photo shoots, as I have experimented by trying out taking a collection of landscape photographs to use within my project. This is because I believe that I may be able to produce a stronger quality of work if I use landscape photographs as they are much more interesting and each photograph can be a lot different to another, making the photographs quite unique in a way. I decided that using landscape photography within my shoot enables me to be a lot more experimental and allows me to produce more interesting pieces of work. This is a rural landscape photo shoot; I decided to take photographs of a rural landscape because this is the landscape that Danges (of who inspired this photo shoot) used within his work.

I decided on what I believed were my most effective photographs and then altered the curves on Photoshop in order to lighten/darken the photographs as some were quite dark yet some were quite light, due to the different times of day I took the photographs at. I then selected segments of each photograph and filled them with a block colour, in the style of Danges, in order to ‘disguise’ the chosen segments of the photographs. For the first photograph, of which was a quite a dark photograph, I edited the curves significantly in order to make a big impact on the brightness of the image, Although the photograph is now extremely light, I believe it still looks quite effective as it looks like an old photograph. For the second photograph, I edited the curves once again in order to lighten the dark image and then filled a chosen segment of the photograph to fill with a block colour. However, for the third photograph, I altered the exposure and contrast of the photograph, again using Photoshop, before filling two segments with a block colour rather than just one, of which I think looks more effective and abstract.
