MICAH DANGES

Micah Danges starts his work by firstly using his photography skills before he begins distorting the photographs using colour and deconstruction. He uses his photography skills to create abstract photographs to work upon. Danges aims to achieve work of which looks incredibly interesting and highly textural. He wants people to want to feel the texture of his work most of all. He enjoys combining materials to create a simple, yet effective look. Danges stated in an interview that “placement, framing, staging, deconstructing and rebuilding are fundamental elements” in his work. His main aim is to create simple pieces of work of which is still very distorted.

IMAGE ANALYSIS

This piece is one of many abstract pieces of work that Micah Danges has created, of which is a landscape photograph. This piece is one of many created by Danges of which shows a surreal landscape. It has been said that Danges uses his work to present human interactions between real and fake surroundings. This could possibly be a link to globalization/industrialization of which humans have taken over the world in a sense, in order to make room for buildings, factories and architecture. The segments taken from Danges’ photographs could suggest how humans quite literally take from nature and replace this with buildings and man made areas, and so the abstract blocks of colour could represent this. This could mean that Danges is influenced by political factors perhaps. To me, Danges’ work shows a miserable atmosphere within the landscape photograph, due to the use of over exposure. However, the block of colour contrasts against this mood and shows quite a bold mood.
